The Kindle Fire HDX 7 and 8.9 tablets have been announced by Amazon, and all those of you who were eagerly waiting for the devices to go official will be glad to know that they have been put up for pre-order in the US already. It goes without saying that the Amazon devices are a step ahead of their predecessors and should have some new and interesting features in store for us. Let’s take a look at them.

For starters, the Fire tablets have the newest version of the Fire OS, 3.0 Mojito, which tags along exclusive services, an improved user interface, media libraries and a lot of other things. There’s Prime Instant Video streaming service for customers in the US that allows offline viewing and X-Ray for Music that displays lyrics in sync with the song that’s being played. X-Ray for Movies and TV has also been thrown in along with Second Screen to play the devices’ content on a big screen HDTV.

And what’s more, some enterprise-ready functions like expanded emails, Cloud Drive, encryption support, Mobile Device Management solutions and much more have been provided for professionals who need to stay productive round the clock. Tools like Screen Reader, Explore by Touch and Screen Magnifier are offered to assist the visually impaired. The Kindle Fire HDX 7 starts at $229 and will start shipping from October 18, while the 4G version will retail for $329 starting from November 14. The 8.9-inch slate’s price begins at $379 and if you opt for the 4G model, you will have to part with at least $479. They will be available from November 7 and December 10, respectively.
