Jelly Bean emerges as Android 4.1 on Google Play, vanishes into thin air

Google Play Jelly Bean

Putting an end to all those guessing games, the Google Play store has listed the impending Jelly Bean OS as Android v4.1 for the Samsung Galaxy Nexus HSPA+. If that’s how it is, then fans could safely assume it will be the OS edition which is to break cover at the forthcoming Google I/O event.

For a change, it’s not merely word of mouth doing the usual business here. It seems like Google had accidentally displayed the Android 4.1 listing for the Galaxy Nexus. This page was revealed by a member on XDA forums, which brought the new version to light. As it has been noted, transitions across the different Android versions have dragged in extensive tweaks each time. Considering that it’s the upcoming Google mobile OS we are talking about, expectations will naturally be high.

Samsung Galaxy Nexus Blur

There have been a lot of speculations surrounding the new Jelly Bean OS, and many of them have presumed it to be Android v5.0. It’s not too surprising as previously, Eclair v2.1 was upgraded to Froyo v2.2 in a similar manner of numbering. Droid Life has also stumbled upon a blurry image of the device in question with the new Jelly Bean Google Search bar. However, the Android 4.1 mention on the checkout page is not to be found at present, affirming that the data was added to the online store mistakenly.

Nevertheless, we can just hope Google keeps giving out such surprises so that we get more insights into Jelly Bean, or should we say Android 4.1?
