IRCTC website now allows you to buy tickets with monthly installment plans

As part of a new payment option that as just been introduced, IRCTC regulars will be able to book tickets for their rail journeys by paying in installments. This move is the result of a partnership of the Indian Railways with Citibank which effectively means that only those who own credit cards of the said bank are eligible for the new scheme.

However, you shouldn’t be disappointed as there are high chances of it being extended towards other banks in the time to come. This EMI service will of course be a zero interest one, which is not much of a surprise since banks and retailers offer such schemes on many different products nowadays.

Accessing this new option is pretty easy; once you’ve reached the payment section, you need to choose the EMI option from the menu that showcases payment methods like credit card, debit card, net banking and more. Once that’s done, the drop-down menu should be opened for selecting Citibank.

After that, it’s just a matter of filling in the credit card details and an authorization of the payment of the entire ticket fare. This will then automatically result in payment being taken by IRCTC every month from your account.

Recently, the Indian Railways launched an app for those users who wish to book tickets through their Android smartphones. Such a utility was also released for the BlackBerry 10 platform earlier this year, while a version for the Windows Phone OS has been available since long.

Like we said, the EMI option on the IRCTC website is live now, but can be taken advantage of only by those who possess Citibank credit cards.
