iPhone OS 4.0 to drop ‘rate on delete’ prompt

Apple Logo Apple had earlier installed the ‘rate on delete’ prompt so as get valuable feedback from its users. However, Appleinsider states that Apple will soon be doing away with the rating prompt that users notice on deleting an application.

The initial reason behind the designing of the prompt was to ask users to assign one to five star rating for the application and gain feedback from them. Alternatively, users could also decline to rate the application.

Appleinsider reveals that “the finding noted by Arnold Kim of MacRumors, erases a behavior first implemented in iPhone 2.2, shortly after Apple opened the App Store.”

However, developers started complaining that the prompt catered only to those who were deleting applications. This impacted the applications in a negative manner, and did not generate positive feedback from the ones using the applications for a longer time.
