Apple might size things up with iPhone 6 through a 4.8-inch display

If the latest rumors are to be believed, Apple could go back on its policy of having a screen-size that’s ideal for one hand use. The latest speculation that has set the internet ablaze is that the Cupertino giant may just stretch the touchscreen of its upcoming iPhone (or iPhone 6 if we may) to 4.8 inches wide.

Now, this isn’t the first time we’re hearing of a larger iOS smartphone. There have been rumors of an iPhone Math before which was expected to go official along with the 5S last month. Well, instead we got a new flagship and a colorful smartphone made from plastic. It’s good to know that Apple hasn’t dropped the plan of having a 4.8-inch handset.

According to BGR, this information arrives via Peter Misek, an analyst at Jefferies & Co. The possibility of Apple moving to a larger screen in its upcoming flagship was mentioned in a research note to investors. We’ve got nothing on the specifications as yet, and frankly it’s a bit too early to speculate about the same.

The iPhone 6 having a 4.8-inch touchscreen is in no way confirmed. But if Apple wants to go head-to-head with the competition, a large smartphone would be the right move.

Let’s take a look at the specifications of the current 5S flagship

– The phone has a 4-inch Retina IPS display
– It’s powered by a dual core Apple A7 64-bit processor
– The handset sports dual cameras, an 8MP rear snapper and a 1.2MP webcam
– Storage options comprise of 16GB, 32GB and 64GB
– The device can deliver 10 hours of talktime on 3G or 250 hours on standby
