The next generation Apple smartphone, the iPhone 4S has arrived in India at the allotted time, as promised earlier this month by Aircel and Airtel. Rapidly gaining popularity the world over, this handset was offered for pre-order since a week by these network carriers which are now retailing it as well.

The latest iPhone version boasts of various features such as a dual-core A5 chip processor, the Siri voice assistant, iOS 5 and World Phone capabilities. It sports a 3.5-inch 960 x 640p widescreen multi-touch Retina display. The smartphone also comes embedded with an 8MP camera featuring advanced hybrid infrared filter and optics, a custom lens and a larger aperture as well as enhanced sensitivity and face detection functionalities.

Airtel is offering this smartphone for four amounts of monthly rental charges that read at Rs. 600, Rs. 1,000, Rs. 1,600 and Rs. 2,000. On the other hand, Aircel is retailing this Apple device through its two year money back plans. A monthly rental of Rs. 950 will let users of the 16GB iPhone 4S avail of 3,000 local and STD minutes, 650MB of 3G data and 350 free SMS anywhere in India.

Those who buy the 32GB version from Aircel will have to pay a monthly rental of Rs. 1,150 after which they can enjoy 3,500 local as well as STD minutes along with 450 messages that can be sent to friends and family anywhere in the country. The company is also offering free Wi-Fi data of 1024MB for both capacities of the iPhone 4S.

The iPhone 4S price is tagged at Rs 44,500 and 50,900 for the 16GB and 32GB version, respectively. It is now available via Airtel and Aircel in India.
