iPad mini sold out, shipping date pushed back by two weeks

The iPad mini has definitely managed to strike a chord with the masses as it was sold out within an hour after going up for pre-order. Subsequently, shipping dates for the black and slate as well as the white and silver versions have been postponed by two weeks.

The guys over at MacRumors have reported that the white-colored 7.9-inch member of the Apple family was sold out within 17 minutes. The website also mentions that the tech giant will most probably launch these devices on November 2 through various authorized retailers and those who couldn’t place their orders to be shipped on this date, can head to the nearest store and grab it.

Users wishing to lay their hands on the mini gadget’s 9.7-inch counterpart can place their orders and receive the tablet a week before the former. Besides the Wi-Fi-only tabs, the company will be introducing the cellular variants of the smaller iPad through Sprint, Verizon and AT&T. But these are not likely to be made available before mid-November.

As far as the specifications of this device are concerned, the first ever 7.9-inch iPad employs an IPS display with a fingerprint-resistant oleophobic coating and projects visuals in 1024 x 768p resolution. Measuring 7.2mm in thickness, it boasts of a 5MP primary camera and a 1.2MP front-facing webcam. Based on the iOS 6 platform, the gadget acquires multitasking properties from a dual core A5 processor.

The Wi-Fi-only 16GB iPad mini price is pegged at $329, while the 32GB and 64GB versions can be picked up for $429 and $529, correspondingly.
