Following close on the heels of the recently disclosed Ion iCade Core desktop game controller is the Ion iCade Mobile handheld game controller for iPhone which has been unveiled at the CES 2012. The device has been specially made for avid gamers who own the Apple smartphone and gives them a full view of the iPhone’s touchscreen display for a better gameplay experience.
This handheld portable gadget boasts of a classic controller configuration and has been designed for users to play modern as well as retro titles with ease. The company states that since more intense genres like racing, combat and adventure are not very convenient to play on touchscreen devices, a handheld controller could come to the gamer’s aid with its integrated tactile buttons.

The Ion gaming peripheral comes incorporated with a four-way directional pad, four front-facing action buttons and four shoulder buttons. It features a cradle specially constructed to fit the iPhone and keep it securely in place even during wild gaming sessions. The cradle can be easily swiveled and locked into horizontal or vertical viewing positions for different types of engaging titles which require landscape or portrait orientations, respectively.
The iCade Mobile handheld game controller for iPhone is scheduled to release sometime this year and will be available online at ionaudio.com for a price of $80.
