The Intex Aqua 3G budget Android phone has been launched in India for a price of Rs 3555 and along with this announcement, the homegrown company also revealed that it would be releasing 8 more smartphones within the next quarter. That’s right, over half a dozen phones in three months; talk about making up for quality with numbers.
It goes without saying that the Intex Aqua 3G is a dual SIM handset since the facility of two SIM card slots is a feature that cannot be ignored if you’re selling phones in the low- to mid-range market in India. The Intex smartphone has a touchscreen of 4 inches which is somewhat small by today’s standards.
The Aqua 3G works on the Android Jelly Bean OS (disappointing, we must say) and embeds a dual core processor of unmentioned origin clocking a speed of 1GHz. It has 512MB of memory internally and you can add up to 32GB of additional space by sliding in a microSD card. A 2MP snapper sits on the back panel, and a VGA camera for making video calls and what not is perched above the display.

When pitted against the Celkon Campus A35K, the Aqua 3G does not deliver a convincing argument in its favor. Both devices have mildly impressive specifications for low-end phones, but the former at least comes with KitKat out of the box and is cheaper. Not many Indian manufacturers are good at keeping software updates coming; so we don’t know when users of the Intex phone can expect an upgrade.
