Android Community acquired some pictures and specs of the slate which is touted to be Intel’s debut in the tablet market.

It is common knowledge by now that Intel is planning to enter the smartphone and tablet arena with new products next year. These devices will be powered by a new Atom chip which has currently been codenamed as Medfield. The leaked pictures are however not of the final slate but of a developer version which was showcased at the Intel Developer Forum conference that was held some time ago.

The forthcoming mobile device is said to be running on Android 3.x Honeycomb and is embedded with a 10.1-inch touchscreen display. Rumors are rife that it will operate on a 1.6GHz dual core processor which is believed to deliver high quality graphics that are supposedly better than those offered by the Nvidia Tegra 2 CPU and 1.5GHz dual-core Qualcomm S3 processors.

According to Android Community, although this Intel gadget seems to be equipped with most of the common ports offered by other slates, it will not charge via USB as it supposedly possesses a 3rd party power outlet.

Although there is no official word on the release date and price of the Intel Medfield Android tablet, it is most likely to arrive by the first quarter of 2012.
