Inkling Habitat

The Inkling Habitat digital printing press for iPad has been announced with an aim to aid professional publishers. This software is touted to bring about advancements in publishing technology and facilitates the creation and publication of interactive content, rich in media for the iPad.

The newly launched platform lets publishers operate without the burden of any desktop software or the restrictions of printed pages. Everything is stored in the cloud so that editors, production partners and authors are able to work on projects smoothly by viewing all content simultaneously.

“To reinvent the book, we had to reinvent the printing press. It’s not about replicating the printed page on a screen. It’s about making a first-class interactive experience on every device you target, and this is the first time publishers can do it reliably and at scale. When Inkling debuted its first textbooks two years ago, we set the bar for interactive content experiences on iPad. Now we’re setting the bar for how interactive content is built, providing the entire industry with a means to scale interactive publishing into a viable business for the first time,” stated Matt MacInnis, CEO of Inkling.

Professionals can publish as well as update a variety of content including 3D exhibits, interactive quizzes, high definition videos, text and guided tours instantly, with a single click. The software features automated error reporting, which automatically checks for mistakes such as broken links, missing files and glossary problems once the content is published.

Inkling Habitat is now available for select publishing partners while interested organizations could register for the Early Adopter Program online at inkling.com/habitat. It will be rolled out on a more commercial scale later this year.
