Indian youth do not mind watching movies, TV shows on mobile phones

An analysis of video watching habits and preferences of Indians has revealed that more people, mostly the youth, would prefer watching movies or TV shows on their mobile phones. Despite the fact that it could highly increase the cost and will also require more time to buffer those videos. The results were discovered after Vuclip carried out its third quarter Global Video Insights 2013 survey.

Close to 89 percent Indians which were surveyed, said they would prefer watching movies on their cell phones if they were made available. This percentage includes people who do not have access to faster internet speed on their mobile phones too. Also, about 62 percent respondents would prefer long videos instead of short ones. And if you consider only people below 18, as many as 79 percent vote for movies and shows over short videos.

We can even conclude that more males are interested in watching on their phones, but this doesn’t mean females are not. While about 90 percent men voted in its favor, as many as 84 percent females would want to watch their favorite movies on their phones. 81 percent of the total people would like to watch TV shows and out of these, 95 percent fall in the under 18 age group. Similarly, about 97 percent of the surveyed people who said they wish to watch movies on their phone, belong to this age bracket.

But what are the main reasons which are discouraging people from watching these things on their mobile phones? Well, first and foremost is cost of data which about 39 percent people feel is a hindrance. Buffering comes in second with 19 percent votes, while 12 percent feel there isn’t interesting content to watch.

It looks like the youth in India is more interested in burying their heads in cell phones.
