It seems like more and more Indians are discovering the internet as close to 74 million people around the country have started surfing the web. And because of this sudden rise, India has taken the third spot on the list of nations with the largest internet population, says a report by ComScore.

It doesn’t come as a surprise that most of the users from amongst these 74 million are youngsters. About 75 percent visitors are under the age of 35. This also makes India the country with the youngest online population when compared with other BRIC nations. Apart from India, Brazil, Russia and China form a part of the BRIC group.

On the contrary, these youngsters are not the heaviest internet users. It is women in the age group of 35 to 44, who use the web the most. The online blogging segment has seen a 48 percent growth in the past one year and the number of visitors now stands at 36 million. About 26 percent of these make use of a handheld gadget. The analysis also says that about 54 million Indians watch videos on the internet, which means there has been a growth of 27 percent in the video-viewing sector compared to last year.

ComScore conducted a research to collect this data and formulate a detailed report.
