Idea updates Rs 309 plan to offer 42GB of data

Idea has decided to hit back at Reliance Jio by revising one of its current plans to add more data and make it more attractive to customers. It’s the second time in recent weeks that it’s changed its tune to offer extra data.

Idea’s existing Rs 309 plan used to supply 1GB of data per day. With a 50% increase, it’ll now give away 1.5GB of data on a daily basis. The plan has a validity period of 28 days, translating to a total of 42GB over the course of the pack. That’s a huge bump up over the 28GB a person would have gotten before.

The other details of the scheme remain the same. Rs 309 will fetch users 250 minutes of calling per day and 1000 minutes per week. If the allotted minutes get exhausted, subscribers will have to pay 1 paisa per second. The plan also serves up 100 free SMSes. Once this limit gets over, they’ll have to pay Re 1 per local SMS.

Idea 4G

Idea is further offering free outgoing calls on roaming. Reliance Jio notably has its own Rs 309 plan which gives away 1GB of data per day for 49 days, translating to 49GB in all. The pack additionally includes free access to all Jio apps, unlimited local and national outgoing calls, and free SMSes.

Airtel and Vodafone have its own Rs 349 and Rs 348 prepaid plans, respectively. Both provide people with 2GB of data per day, unlimited local and STD calling, and 100 free SMSes. The validity period is of 28 days. Crunching some numbers, that translates to a total of 56GB of data.
