Idea partners Flipkart to offer 30GB data on 4G smartphones

Idea Cellular has joined hands with Flipkart to offer new and existing customers 30GB of 4G data per month. The operator isn’t applying any daily limits to this data and is throwing in unlimited national and local voice calling as well.

To take advantage of the offer, consumers will have to buy a new 4G-ready smartphone from Flipkart. Idea states that it’ll be applicable on brands like Motorola, Panasonic, Lenovo and Micromax. The price of the handsets can range anywhere from Rs 4000 to Rs 25000.

Once they have their new 4G device in hand, subscribers will have to recharge for Rs 356 to get 30GB of 4G data per month. For those looking for something more affordable, there’s also another Idea plan which costs Rs 191 and gets them 10GB of 4G data with the same no daily limit freedom.

Idea says the schemes are valid till June 30. Users can perform any number of recharges while the deal is active. The offer has probably come about as a result of pressure from Reliance Jio. The latter has been shaking up the market with a constant flood of offers which promise free data and voice calling.

Interestingly, Vodafone has also announced a similar tie-up with Amazon India which is valid till June 30. To recall, the telecom player is in the process of merging with Idea. The former’s scheme involves giving away 45GB of free 4G data parceled out in 9GB packages per month.

In this case, a person would specifically have to buy an Amazon-exclusive smartphone. Upon inserting their Vodafone SIM card, they’re supposed to get a message informing them that they are eligible for the deal. Both postpaid and prepaid customers will have to buy a 1GB or above pack to receive the benefits of the deal.
