iBiquity’s HD Radio accessory and app now available for iPhone

iBiquity HD Radio App With the release of the new Gigaware Navigation Control HD Radio Receiver accessory and the Gigaware HD Radio application, iBiquity is all set to offer HD Radio FM broadcasts to iPhone users.

The new accessory and the app are supported by iPhone 3.0 operating system and utilize capability to support external accessories. iPhone 3.0 enables application developers to use the external hardware support. The application is compatible with iPhone powered by 3.0 software.

The Gigaware Navigation Control HD Radio Receiver claims to be the first device to allow iPhone users to tune to HD Radio broadcasts that include HD2 and HD3 multicast channels. The advanced device enables clear reception of HD2 and HD3 channels. In addition, the receiver also delivers Program Service Date (PSD), produces CD-like digital quality sound and allows users to manage their iPhone remotely. With an iTune Tagging button on the navigation control, users can tag favorite songs for future review and purchase on the App Store.

The receiver is used in combination with the Gigaware HD Radio application. The new app features an intuitive, user-friendly interface with a manual tune wheel or an auto-seek option. With this app, users can preview content available on other channels and instantly select a main station or HD2/HD3 channel stream. Users can also bookmark their favorite stations. The app also brings iTunes Tagging and the ability to connect with friends via email, Twitter and Facebook.

The Gigaware Navigation Control HD Radio Receiver can be purchased from the RadioShack stores and online from its official website for an MSRP of $79.99. The Gigaware HD Radio application can be downloaded from the Apple App Store for free.
