The Huawei 4Afrika will soon be launched in Africa as the manufacturer has joined hands with Microsoft to introduce its latest WP8 offering. This handset will join a lineup of various Windows Phones in the continent from competitors like Nokia, HTC and Samsung.
The 4Afrika device is a customized variant of the Ascend W1, which recently made its debut at the CES 2013. The phone comes specially equipped with applications that are tailored to meet the requirements of users in Africa. Furthermore, consumers can download more apps from a special category contained in the WP Store.
Similar to its global variant, the Windows Phone 8 device incorporates a dual core Snapdragon processor with a clock speed of 1.2GHz, alongside an Adreno 305 GPU. This version however offers only a 1730mAh battery capacity as opposed to Ascend W1’s 1950mAh one. When fully charged, this would provide a talktime of around 560 minutes or a standby time of 420 hours. The 4GB storage is expandable up to 32GB through a microSD slot. Weighing just 130g and having a thickness of around 10.15mm, this device is both light and slim which makes it easy to carry.
The 5MP main snapper comes with autofocus and LED flash. The handset also includes a 0.3MP camera on the front panel. The 4.1-inch phone implements the Zero Gap Touch technology and will be available in hues of black, blue and white and according to the maker, it will soon come in a shade of red as well. Live Tiles allows users to personalize their display to receive regular updates about subjects that concern them. Furthermore, Skydrive can be adopted to easily sync as well as access files. The device also comes equipped with Microsoft Office and Outlook.
The Huawei 4Afrika is slated to be launched across various countries including Egypt, Nigeria, Kenya, Ivory Coast, Angola, Morocco and South Africa. As reported by the company, the smartphone will hit the stores by the end of the month.
