HTC users get 5GB free Dropbox storage

HTC Dropbox Collaboration

Though the news seems to have been making rounds for quite some time now, HTC has finally made an official announcement about a collaboration with the cloud storage service Dropbox through its Facebook page. The association will benefit HTC users as they will now receive not 2GB, but 5GB of free storage space from Dropbox.

This cloud storage service generally offers 2GB of free storage to customers who sign up for a free account. But with the recent tie-up, all new HTC owners of Android-based devices can expect 5GB of storage, free of charge. It turns out that HTC has taken into consideration all its Android users.

Additionally, users will no longer have to go through the hassle of obtaining the cloud storage service by themselves. All upcoming HTC smartphones running the Google Android platform will be pre-installed with Dropbox. And that’s about it on the information given the HTC nod. The post on the official Facebook page does not share anymore details with users.

For the uninitiated, Dropbox is a cloud storage service which allows users to access their data through a number of devices compliant with it. Needless to say, all HTC users should not only be able to gain access the 5GB storage space through their Android devices, but also from PC systems, laptops, tablets and more. What continues to be unclear as of now is that if existing users can take advantage of this association or not.

Anyone looking to pick a new HTC Android based smartphone can look forward to the HTC-Dropbox collaboration and take advantage of the extra hoarding space in the cloud.
