HTC Touch Diamond Phone comes to Indian Shores

HTC Touch Diamond in India HTC along with India’s leading telecom network Bharti Airtel, plans to bring the EDGE-only version of the HTC Touch Diamond mobile handset to India in mid-June. The phone was officially launched on May 6, 2008 in London.

The HTC Touch Diamond phone features:

  • Finger-touch interface enabled by HTC TouchFLO technology
  • 2.8 inch VGA display (640 x 480 pixels)
  • 3.2 Megapixel camera with auto-focus and video recording
  • 4GB of internal memory
  • Media player
  • Easy access to YouTube
  • FM radio with RDS
  • Bluetooth 2.0 with EDR
  • GPS and A-GPS navigation, Google Maps
  • Opera browser
  • E-mail
  • Office Mobile
  • And has 102 x 51 x 115 millimeters as dimensions and 110 grams of weight.

The Touch Diamond, HTC’s new flagship product, packs diverse functionalities into an attractive form factor with consummate ease. It is indeed a phenomenal innovation from HTC and we are extremely positive about its response in India,” said Mr. Ajay Sharma, Country Manager, HTC (India).

    The phone will cost around 27,500 INR (about $645 or 410 Euros) and will be available at all of HTC’s authorized distributors via Airtel.

    Now comes the sad news – the ‘smartphone’ will only support GSM connection in India, unlike other countries where the phone has both GSM and 3G connectivity. The reason for this is – “since India has not yet started to implement 3G services” only the EDGE version can be made available in the country!
