HTCCan HTC One M8, Desire 816 and Desire 210 launches in India save the company?

Can HTC One M8, Desire 816 and Desire 210 launches in India save the company?

The HTC One M8 has two good reasons for you to choose it over the Samsung Galaxy S5 and its price of Rs 49900 in India is just one of them. The Samsung phone on the other hand, costs Rs 51500 in the country. We’re assuming that even if the South Korean company doesn’t, online retailers will push its rate down to match that of the M8’s when this HTC flagship is launched next month.

Also, for those who are fiercely loyal to either brand, the Rs 1600 price difference may not matter all that much. The second thing that the HTC One M8 has in its favor is the all metal aluminum body which lends it a much more premium feel than the Samsung device and its plastic finish. Apart from the M8, the Desire 816 and Desire 210 were also unveiled for Rs 23,990 and Rs 8,700.

HTC One M8 camera fail:

The HTC One M8 is definitely not the worst camera phone in the market, but HTC’s decision to put a 4MP UltraPixel snapper on the rear with the stubborn conviction that megapixels aren’t the only things which matter is annoying. As you can see in the comparison video posted below, it does worse than the 16MP one on the Samsung Galaxy S5 on several counts.

But if you’re a huge fan of selfies and these are mostly the only use you make of your handset’s camera, then the HTC smartphone has a 5MP front lens as pitted against the Samsung offering’s 2MP one. We’ve made a short and sweet list of the all new One’s main specs so that you can go through them painlessly.

HTC One M8 specifications at a glance:

– 5-inch 1080 x 1920p 441ppi touchscreen
– Android 4.4.2 KitKat OS with HTC Sense 6
– 4MP UltraPixel main camera, 5MP front lens
– 2.3GHz quad core Snapdragon 801 processor

– 2GB of RAM, 16GB or 32GB internal storage
– 128GB expandability via microSD card slot
– 2600mAh battery, up to 20 hours 3G talk time

The HTC Desire 210 has Android 4.2, a 4-inch display, a 5MP camera, a 1.2GHz dual core MediaTek processor and 512MB RAM. The phone embeds one standard SIM slot and a micro SIM housing, each of which supports GSM networks. The Desire 816 brings in Android with Sense 5.5, a 5.5-inch HD screen, a 1.6GHz quad core Snapdragon 400 chip, 1.5GB RAM, 8GB ROM, 128GB expandability and 5MP front and 13MP rear snappers.

HTC Desire 816

The Rs 49900 price we mentioned above is for the 16GB HTC One M8 and we’re yet to hear about the 32GB version’s cost. The handset’s release date for India is set for the first week of May. The Desire 210 Dual SIM is hitting shelves at the end of this month and the Desire 816 will be let loose in a fortnight or so.
