HTC Desire lands in India on Tata DoCoMo’s plane

HTC DesireWith the HTC Desire sailing to the U.S shores by August 27, 2010, another carrier has picked up the device and brings it to another countries. With this revelation, the citizens of India will soon be able to grab this handset. Tata DoCoMo and HTC have come together to introduce the HTC Desire in India. Postpay subscribers will get some additional benefits on purchase of this device.

Operating on Android 2.1, the device is said to be the latest Android smartphone to feature the HTC Sense UI. It runs on a 1-GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor and is fitted with a 5 megapixel auto-focus camera with flash. The handset boasts of a 3.7-inch touch-sensitive screen with 480 X 800 WVGA resolution as well as several live wallpapers which leverage on the OS and the fast processor. This smartphone touts on enhancing the experience of viewing images or videos, browsing the internet or socializing on social networking sites.

The new version of the HTC Sense UI packs in a myriad of fresh features. Friend Stream is a new HTC app and widget, which brings all of the user’s social communications like Facebook, Flickr and Twitter into one well-managed flow of updates. Additionally, users’ friends and acquaintances can be organized into certain social circles like friends, family and colleagues. Moreover, applications consisting of browser, e-mail clients and more have been enhanced. This UI is also equipped with a newsreader application and widget along with a seven-screen ‘Leap’ thumbnail view for an effortless and fast access to specific screens.

By messaging ‘Android’ to 54321 from their brand new HTC Desire, postpaid subscribers can avail free data download of 500MB per month. This exclusive offer is available for six months. The HTC Desire from Tata DoCoMo will be retailing all over India at a price of Rs. 28, 900. It is scheduled to be stacked with all authorized HTC resellers in the country.
