The HTC Butterfly has fluttered onto the company’s global website and the handset has dropped the ‘J,’ well known to Japanese folks. After hopping from one nation to another wearing various disguises, such as the Droid DNA and the Deluxe DLX, it has finally settled to be accessible across the globe.
The news was spilled by the famous EVleaks Twitter account, wherein a link leading to the gadget on the Taiwanese manufacturer’s official site was also provided. Even with different names, the 140 gram smartphone still holds onto its core attributes and has been known for bringing a 5-inch full HD touchscreen. The brawny gadget comes with Corning Gorilla Glass 2 protection in order to keep undesirable scratches at bay.
Users will spot a 1.2MP webcam sharing space with the screen and can employ it for live face-to-face conversations. On the rear is a snapper that features auto focus, BSI sensor and LED flash for clicking pictures and capturing HD video clips.
The website does not give out the precise version of Android that the Butterfly is expected to run on. However, it’s safe to say that the handset will be based on Jelly Bean just like its other variants.
It is driven by a quad core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor with a clock speed of up to 1.5GHz which is abetted in its functions by 2GB of RAM. Over and above 16GB of inbuilt memory, the handset carries a microSD slot to allow expansion of up to 32GB.
The gadget also includes gyro, accelerometer, proximity and ambient light sensors. A 2020mAh Li-polymer battery keeps the device running.
The HTC Butterfly has landed on the OEM’s website with no specific price. As a result, those who have been eyeing the Droid DNA’s global version will have to wait some more until the company officially declares a definite amount.
