HI 3D engine MascotCapsule eruption for Pantech’s Android-based smartphone

Sky Vega

The three-dimensional technology has been adopted by varying platforms. Now, Pantech plans to incorporate it in its Android-based smartphone. Pantech’s Sky-branded Vega IM-A650S will deploy HI’s 3D rendering engine MascotCapsule eruption.

The eruption supports industry-standard OpenGL ES, providing high-speed 3D graphics on the Android platform. Eruption enables models and animation data from renowned 3D graphics tools (Autodesk 3ds Max, Autodesk Maya etc.) to be effortlessly displayed on Android. This allows easier creation of 3D content for Android, just like previous generation mobile phones.

The structural limitations of Android render slow speed. This problem is taken care by implementing a proprietary high-speed solution on the Android. It also increases graphics rendering speed by about two to three times.

Eruption was used to carry out nimble 3D effects on widgets such as calendar, weather forecasting and others. This enriches performance along with smoother operation and a refreshing UI.

HI plans to promote the use of eruption globally, making it the standard for 3D UI technology.
