Vice City 10th Anniversary Edition available for iOS, Android getting it later

The 10th anniversary edition of GTA: Vice City is now available for select iOS devices, Rockstar has announced. While this comes as good news to those using Apple gadgets, Android users will have to wait a little longer, as ‘unforeseen technical issues’ have apparently caused a snag in the release of the version for the Google OS.

Delivering open world action entwined with a story that took gamers back to the 80s, Vice City succeeded GTA III in 2002 for the PS2 and saw a port for the Xbox and Windows PCs the following year. It was the second game in the series to feature 3D computer graphics and made its way to Mac computers only in 2010.

Vice City Anniversary Edition

Vice City 10th Anniversary Edition has been built with mobile and tablet platforms in mind, and is a slightly enhanced version of the original. It even has new features such as a customizable user interface as well as new camera controls. It goes without saying that textures in the title have been upgraded and are now on par with what is expected of mobile games a decade later.

Customizable Controls

This edition of the game for iOS has improved character models and lighting effects as well. And since it requires aiming and shooting for most of its missions, new firing and targeting options have been included in the build which the company says have been tailored for play on portable devices. In addition, players will also be able to save their progress to iCloud servers.

It should be noted that the game is only supported on the iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, and 4th and 5th generation iPod Touch, while it can be played on all iPad models. Regarding the delay with the Android version, Rockstar says it is aware of the game’s appearance on the Google Play store, but advises users against downloading the title as it is has apparently been listed in error.

GTA: Vice City 10th Anniversary Edition for iOS devices is available from the Apple app store for a price of $4.99 and comprises a download which is almost 1GB in size. Rockstar has clarified that it is working on getting the Android version out for download by ‘the end of next week.’
