GTA V buzz: Flipkart talks about delay, Amazon delivers it early, companion apps announced

The raving reviews for GTA V (Grand Theft Auto 5) have driven fans into a frenzy and divided them into two groups – those who’re dying to lay hands on it and those who got it early via Amazon UK. By the way, some folks from the former group of people can be found trying to hide distinctly green faces and complaining about those who got their copies early.

And the Amazon’s inevitable tiff with Rockstar Games is not the only trouble this much anticipated game has been inviting. GTA enthusiasts in India had taken to Twitter to air their dismay upon being told via email by Flipkart that there would be a delay in delivering copies.

The release date through the retailer shows 17th September. Items such as this which are pegged with a Pre-order or Forthcoming can only be shipped starting from the day it is launched officially. Several Twitter users have noted that their order is en-route already. So it should reach them depending on their location.

A couple of storefronts have confirmed to us that they will begin selling the game starting from 17th September. So if you’re impatient, you know where to go (after checking out the returns policy on Flipkart maybe?). On another note, the game developer has announced an iFruit companion app as well as a manual, both for mobile platforms.

As for those who received the game early and decided to play spoilsport, Microsoft had something unpleasant in store for them. StickSkills cites NeoGAF while reporting that the company came down heavily on leaks by banning Xbox Live accounts through which early footage spilled out. Rockstar Games apparently insists that even pre-release unboxing videos of titles are against its policies.

But you’re not going to be tempted to watch spoilers of GTA V if you’re a true fan, are you?
