GSM/UMTS Google Nexus S to welcome Android 4.0 update

Coming as a festive present for owners of the Samsung Google Nexus S is the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update. Engadget states that this upgrade is only going to be valid for those Nexus S devices running on networks that are GSM and UMTS compatible.

The official Android page of the Google+ social networking website revealed that this handset which launched last year is all set to receive the next generation mobile platform upgrade. A result of the partnership between Samsung and Google, this mobile device was the first one to run on the Android 2.3 OS and boasts of a 1GHz Cortex A8 Hummingbird processor.

“We’re rolling out Android 4.0, Ice Cream Sandwich, to GSM/UMTS Nexus S devices over the coming month, starting today. Enjoy the tasty update! Once you get the update, check out some tips and shortcuts for getting started at the Android 4.0 Help Center,” cited the official Google+ Android page.

To make the process of upgrading easier for Nexus S owners, a guide comprising of instructions on how to go about using the update has been released by Google. Changes in carrying out basic functions such as putting up the wallpaper, viewing recently employed apps or creating folders have all been listed in the ICS Help Center to further aid users.

The Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update for the Samsung Google Nexus S is set to roll out today and the company will be offering this upgrade through a phased delivery system over the span of this month.
