Groundspeak rolls out Geocaching App for Android

Geocaching Android App

Geocaching claims to be a high-tech treasure hunting game played throughout the world by adventure seekers owning GPS devices. Android owners running Android OS version 1.5 and higher can now experience Groundspeak’s Geocaching App. The main concept is to uncover hidden containers known as geocaches and outdoors. Users can also share their exciting experiences online.

Owners can geocache seamlessly with Groundspeak’s Geocaching for Android Application. In order to highlight user’s precise location, Android handsets use a blend of GPS, Wi-Fi positioning and cell towers. The handy app searches the Geocaching.com database in real-time and offers a list of geocaches close to the user’s location.

The searching experience is enhanced as users can explore by current location, address or GC code. Apart from filtering searches from the Geocaching.com results, owners can effortlessly access geocache details, including description, photo gallery, attributes, recent logs, hint and inventory.

Users can look for Trackable details including item goals and store geocache listings like maps and images for easy retrieval and offline use. The Log geocache function finds and posts notes in the field. Users can download active pocket queries for use when they are outside network coverage. If the phone is unable to highlight a location, users will still be able to access cache data and view maps to use in coordination with another GPS device.

With the integrated web browser, users can view geocache web pages on Geocaching.com without leaving the app. Apart from viewing cache size, terrain and difficulties rating from the map screen, users can easily navigate to geocaches with a simulated compass arrow. While navigating multi-caches, users can also add custom waypoints. Owners can quickly swap between street and satellite maps.

Users can now download Groundspeak’s Geocaching for Android Application from the Android Market.
