Gowalla 3 for Android finally out

Gowalla 3 Android

With every other application available for the iPhone deported to the Android and more recently Windows Phone 7 platform, we don’t think this tidbit should surprise anyone in particular. It’s the Gowalla tool in version 3 that’s walked in for Android users lately.

According to the official Gowalla blog, the Android edition packs in a host of new robust capabilities alongside the earlier features iPhone users have been familiar with. Among the many changes, a new passport view and action bar is said to stand out the most. The former attribute offers direct access to all of Gowalla’s features while users also get to preview their profile. It will also keep users informed about their last check-in and sends reminders if you haven’t done so in a while.

As for the action bar, it’s known to allow instant check-ins or the ability to refresh the screen. On any given screen, users can also know what can be done with most of the items now transported from the Android menu screen to the action bar. The check-in screen is the next overhaul, empowering users to check-in with photos and comments seamlessly. What’s more, users have the choice of turning sharing with sites like Facebook, Twitter, Foursquare and Tumblr on or off at their free will. In line with the application’s integrated check-in function for iPhone, logging in to any site is effortless.

The activity feed has been revamped too with big photos displayed along friend’s check-ins. Allowing users to comment in a jiffy, the photos can be viewed in the full-screen mode with a simple tap. There’s also the option of seeing a summary of new activity with this view. Users can now also view their friend’s Foursquare and Facebook check-ins minus any hassles. Adding highlights to favorite spots becomes simpler too while the choice of throwing in push notifications finds space for users having Android 2.2 and up.

Notifications on demand, bookmarks, trips, stamps and items – well, there’s lots it seems in store for Android users. The Gowalla 3 for Android application can be downloaded now through the Android Market.
