Overcoming the language barrier can be a task in itself, especially when there’s no helping hand. The scenario isn’t any different when it comes to mobile phones Google though simplifies the process for iPhone users with the debut of the new Google Translate app. The app is designed to boost the translation experience on the iPhone with features of the web app and also some fascinating additions.

According to the official Google Mobile blog, Google Translate accepts voice input for 15 languages and translates a word or phrase into more than 50 languages. By simply pressing the microphone icon next to the text box, consumers can speak whatever they wish to be translated. On downloading the app, users can listen to their own translations in one of 23 different languages.

The translated text can be easily enlarged to full-screen size for reading it on the screen or showing it to others. With just a tap on the zoom icon, the translation quickly zooms in. Apart from real time translation of conversations, Google Translate also displays dictionary results in a single word.

The Google Translate app can be downloaded from the App Store for free.
