Google Nexus One updates with Android 2.2.2 OS via OTA

Google Nexus One

Google Nexus One was in the news just last month exciting owners with information about a Gingerbread update soon. With January already upon us, there is still no sign of the yummy treat. Now it seems that users would however have to be satisfied with another sort of update. According to AndroidCentral, the Nexus One is in the midst of an Android 2.2.2 – build FRG83G.

The OTA (over the air) update is claimed to be a maintenance upgrade to the smartphone and will infuse it with the Android 2.2.2. This inclusion apparently ‘contains important bug fixes’ and ‘import security updates’. It seems to push the handset’s build number up to FRG83G. The latest Froyo version update is just 558kb and won’t really affect the user interface too much.

The Nexus One already features Android 2.2 and 1 GHz Qualcomm QSD 8250 Snapdragon chipset. It measures 59.8 x 119.0 x 11.5 mm and tips the scale at just 130 grams. The lithium ion battery is claimed to offer 10 hours and 290 hours of talk time and standby time respectively. With a touchscreen size of 3.7 inches, the handset includes 5 megapixel camera, and popular Google applications such as Google Voice, Gmail and Google Maps Navigation.

Owners of this Google smartphone can now check for an update via the settings menu.
