According to the latest rumors, the Google Nexus 7 tablet will not include a primary camera and 3G connectivity. This step could have possibly been taken to bring down the overall manufacturing cost to the speculated price of around $200.

So far, there has been a lot of talk going on regarding the new Google tablet, though we are only certain that’s it’s going to tag along a 7-inch screen and Jelly Bean. If the current news is to be believed, prospective users of the slate in question would just have Wi-Fi for connectivity purposes. And like we mentioned earlier, the suppliers have also not noticed a main camera on the slate, as reported by DigiTimes. This means that only a front-facing low resolution webcam could be popping out. Word has it that 2 new images on Picasa were captured using the same snapper on the tablet. Both pictures with 1,280 x 960p resolutions, feature the ceiling found in the company’s headquarters, as per the accompanying geotagging information.

It looks like the competition here is intense with the Apple iPad facing fresh rivalry from Microsoft’s Surface and the impending Google Nexus. As stated on CNET, it appears to be a three way head to head competition between 3 distinct manufacturers. But, Google’s tablet with no 3G and primary camera may get pushed behind the other 2 giants’. Considering that no official word is attached to this piece of news, fans can take it with a pinch of salt for now.

Stories doing rounds suggest that the Google Nexus 7 tablet will officially break cover at Google I/O, the Android developer event scheduled to take place on June 27 in San Francisco.
