Google Keep launched, it’s official this time

Google Keep has finally prepped itself up to replace all the paper notes at home, following its disappearing act just a few days ago. Formally unveiled through the company’s official blog as a web tool, the note-taking app has been launched as a mobile utility for Android devices.

For those who know how to deal with Evernote, functions of Keep should ring a bell. The utility serves as a scribble pad for anyone with an urge to jot down a nagging thought. This need not be in the form of a text and users could add pictures as well as make lists.

Each note can be splashed with a dedicated color depending on users’ preference and convenience. Once completed, these memos can be deleted or hurled into the archives. The utility’s knack to transcribe a voice command should free owners from the hassle of punching in a reminder every time the need for documentation arises. Bet that’s something the chit stuck on people’s refrigerator couldn’t do.

The aforementioned blog post also confirms the ability to craft, access and alter notes on Google Drive. While this service is currently available through web only, the company ensures that users will be able to carry out such activities directly via the utility (Drive) in the weeks to come.

Web Version

With regards to devices preloaded with the latest edition of Android Jelly Bean, the software authorizes adding fresh notes without feeling the need to unlock users’ smartphones and tablets. It also permits people to choose what memo should be prioritized.

Even though the web counterpart of Google Keep has been made available for anyone with an account, only those employing Ice Cream Sandwich or fresher editions will be able o reap the benefits of the Android version. So anyone who is excited by the idea of a digital memo will find the tool on the Google Play store, ready for download, free of cost.

Here are some of the features the app introduces in Android smartphones:

– Ability to create notes, lists and audio notes
– Addition of pictures to memos
– Viewing and creating notes from homescreen and lockscreen widgets
– Selectable color codes
– Ability to sync notes to Drive and other gadgets
