The official Google Mobile blog has revealed that the Google Docs for Android app was recently updated to version 1.0.43. Users of smartphones and tablets running on the Android OS can now operate this application in an easier manner with the new added features that this update brings along.

This app has been modified keeping in mind busy professionals and employees who are constantly on the move and may not have access to the internet at most places. They are now allowed to use their files saved in Google Docs even when offline. In this way, the revamped software lets users select any file to view or operate even in the absence of an internet connection.

The blog states that Google Docs automatically updates the offline files when users get connected to Wi-Fi. Files can also be manually updated at anytime using a data connection by opening the file or clicking on the ‘Update’ option in the Offline section of the app. The refreshed application is capable of working on Android mobile devices running the 2.1 OS or higher.

The Google Docs reading experience has also been enhanced for those who own Android tablets. When users are online and open a Google document on the tablet, they will be able to view a high resolution version of the document. Tablet owners merely have to swipe left or right to flip between pages or use the slider situated at the bottom of the page to move ahead quickly.

Google Docs for Android can now be downloaded for free from the Android Market.
