The Google Chromecast and Chromecast Audio have been launched in India and are now up for sale via a number of offline and online vendors including Reliance, Flipkart, Croma and Snapdeal. The two first arrived on the scene back in September last year.
Both the Google Chromecast and Chromecast Audio are priced at Rs 3399 and serve different purposes. The first is the second-generation of the gadget and features an improved set of features, while the second is aimed at audiophiles who want to stream music from their phone, PC or tablet to their speakers.
Like its predecessor, the new Chromecast lets users wirelessly cast media to a TV. This time round, Google has changed up its design so consumers can fit the gadget more easily to their television’s HDMI port even when the space available is tight. This eliminates the need to invest in separate adapters or extension cables to get the job done.
The Google offering’s connectivity skills have also been upgraded. It now comes equipped with dual-band 2.4GHz and 5GHz 802.11ac Wi-Fi and 3 separate antennas. The latter is part of the brand’s adaptive antenna system which ensures that the user gets the best radio frequency connection based on the conditions.

The Chromecast additionally ships with a new Fast Play and Feeds feature. The first allows for faster streaming speeds once the cast button has been pressed. The second lets people choose what they want to showcase when the screen in standby mode, varying from social media feeds to photo streams.
