Google+ app for Android gets a fresh update

The Google+ app for Android has hit v2.6, bringing in a horde of improvements and features. Most of the updates have been initiated following user interest and requests to make a convenient social networking experience out of Facebook’s arch rival.

An attribute called mobile hangouts was released some time back on the app to facilitate video chatting with nearly 9 friends while on the move. In this refreshed version, potential users can begin a hangout session right from their devices. Just typing ‘Hangout’ in the newly designed navigation bar and adding the desired friends will start a conversation. Some special friends to be included in the face-to-face chatting utility can be alerted via phone calls.

This new version will support full screen media in the stream with conversations quickly appearing in one view. Basically, the stream serves as a common place for all the activities happening on the site, notifying users on their friends’ updates. Needless to say, the +1 action is just a tap away. The navigation ribbon has been redesigned with slide-in and slide-out panels to enable convenient access to almost anything to do with the app.

Potential users can now download images directly from Google+ and use them as wallpapers. Likewise, Instant Upload allows saving snaps and clips directly onto private albums along with the ability to share them with pals. Apart from these attributes, the free app allows editing of posts inline and enables sharing of content within a group of mates via Circles.

The Google+ app for Android v2.6 is now up for download via Google Play.
