The Gionee S Plus has been launched in India and will be exclusively offered to consumers in the country. The highlight of the handset is its USB Type-C port, making it the first device manufactured by the brand to be sporting the feature.
The dual-SIM Gionee S Plus flaunts a 5.5-inch 720p AMOLED screen and is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3. It houses a 13MP primary camera with LED flash and a 5MP secondary one. It contains 3GB of RAM and 16GB of internal space, which can be further expanded via a microSD card slot.
Under the hood, the 4G-enabled Gionee device is fueled by an octa-core 64-bit 1.3GHz MediaTek MT6753 processor, working with the support of a Mali-T720 GPU. It runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop with a layer of the company’s own Amigo 3.1 UI on top. The smartphone derives its power from a 3150mAh battery and its connectivity options include Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.

The S Plus will be competing with other mid-range phones like the OnePlus X. The handset also costs Rs 16999 and has similar features except for its 2525mAh battery, 5-inch 1080p display and 2.3GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 SoC. It additionally does not support USB Type-C connectivity.

The Gionee S Plus can be bought in blue, golden and white colors. It’s set to be available in India from the first week of November at Rs 16999.
