Gionee Pioneer P4 receives Android KitKat update in India

The Gionee Pioneer P4 smartphone which was launched in India only in April, is finally getting an update to Android 4.4 KitKat that will bring in several interesting changes. This is the third device from the Chinese manufacturer to be receiving an upgrade to KitKat, with the previous lucky ones being the Elife E7 mini and Elife S5.5.

The Android 4.4 KitKat firmware for the Gionee Pioneer P4 has already gone live and can be downloaded onto your handsets OTA (over the air) if you happen to live in India. The 808MB-heavy update brings with it upgrades for proprietary apps, two new games and a redesigned homescreen layout apart from a handful of other changes.

The quad core chip inside the Pioneer P4 smartphone comes from MediaTek of course, and carries the model number MT6582V. It is coupled with 1GB of RAM to keep things moving as smoothly as possible on the smartphone. As you can see, the other key features are pretty mediocre too, with a 5MP rear camera, 8GB onboard memory, 32GB expandability and a 4.5-inch 854 x 480p screen.
