The Gionee Marathon M5 Plus with a metal unibody design and a massive 5020mAh battery, has been launched in India for Rs 26999. In case you think such a big battery will force you to spend hours charging the phone, the company claims that it can be powered by fully within 2 hours. Additionally, some wizardry to encourage lower energy consumption by the device’s 6-inch screen and chipset, has also been implemented. Another highlight of the Marathon series handset is its fingerprint sensor for locking and unlocking it, because patterns and passwords are so passé.
Gionee has put a 6-inch full HD curved glass panel on its Marathon M5 Plus. The smartphone runs on a 64-bit octa core processor from MediaTek and 3GB of RAM. Its software is based on Android Lollipop layered with the company’s home-brewed Amigo UI. The handset charges via USB Type-C, the newly emerged champion of USB standards.
