The Gionee Elife S6 has been unveiled in China, the metal phone commanding a price tag of CNY 1699 (roughly Rs 17600). There’s no word on whether the handset will be available globally as of now.
The highlight of the Gionee Elife S6 is its narrow profile measuring just 4mm at its thinnest point and 6.9mm at its thickest. These figures make the phone one of the slimmest in the world. It beats out other devices like the Vivo X5 Max and Oppo R5, which boast dimensions of 4.75mm and 4.85mm, respectively.
While its size sets it apart, the Elife S6 otherwise comes with a respectable set of specs for a mid-range offering. It flaunts a 5.5-inch 720p AMOLED display and packs a 3150mAh battery, which is supposed to last for 343 hours of standby time and 18.8 hours of talk time. The smartphone also supports USB Type-C connectivity, a welcome feature in its market segment.

Gionee has equipped the device with a hybrid dual-SIM slot which does double duty as a microSD card holder as well. In terms of memory, it’s been stuffed with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. Users can add up to 128GB of extra room. Daily processes are conducted through a 1.3GHz 64-bit octa-core MediaTek MT6753 processor and a Mali-T720 GPU.

Coming to its camera department, the 4G-ready Elife S6 shoots images and full HD videos with a 13MP autofocus rear snapper. A 5MP lens graces the front surface of the handset. It runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop, with a layer of Amigo OS 3.1 skinned on top. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, A-GPS and USB OTG.
