GetJar hits two billion download mark, hundred million from Facebook installs

 GetJar 2 Billion DownloadsThe multi-platform application store ‘GetJar’ rejoiced the joyful moment on reaching two billion downloads with hundred million from the highly demanded Facebook app. With hundred and fifty thousand software and games varying between operating systems and devices, the company has put in all efforts to make them available in one single place. Their recent achievements were announced on the official GetJar blog.

From support to large platforms like Symbian, Android, iOS and Java-based phones, the company has much to offer with their large collection of free and paid applications on more than two thousand mobile phones. Hosting popular games like Cut The Rope, Angry Birds and many more, the company has managed to reach to their current position

“We credit our growth in downloads to our open approach to the app marketplace. Giving developers for all platforms a free space to distribute their applications has proven popular to both developers and consumers. GetJar has become an even bigger player in a field of giants and a destination for free Android apps,” expressed the CEO, Ilja Laurs.

Additionally, the company is currently facing issues with Apple for using the term ‘App Store’ (claimed to be owned by Apple) for their online store. Currently GetJar believes to have around one million of their users connected to Facebook.

With two billion downloads and counting, GetJar, the ever growing multi-platform application store will continue its works by expanding the data base of applications and provide developers the opportunity to host their files on the site.
