GestureTek to power Sony Ericsson with Motion-Sensitive Games?

Motion-Sensing Games

Sony Ericsson and GestureTek have signed a deal which will allow Sony to use GestureTek’s motion-sensing software for its new range of games, report Gizmodo and Pocket-Lint.

GestureTek’s software already powers PS2 EyeToy. The two games that are likely to be the first among the motion-sensitive games are ‘Super Monkey Ball’ and ‘Crash Bandicoot’.

The motion-sensing technology lets camera phones use their camera as a motion sensor, and can be applied in old camera cell phone models also. The technology is cheaper to put into application than the accelerometers used in iPhones, Sony Ericsson W910i, LG Secret and others; but has similar work function where in the players need to tilt the phone to control the game characters on the screen.

The Sony Ericsson phones with the technology are speculated to come around September.
