Vegas seems to be the most talked about place currently in the mobile terrain. For once its fabulous casinos are not the ones bringing the city into the spotlight, the Consumer Electronic Show, held there is the ongoing hot topic. One more offering that hits the already tall stacks of CES products, is the Garmin StreetPilot application.

Along with this app, an entire suite of other software is displayed at CES for both Android and Apple devices. These include Garmin Tracker, myMechanic and My-Cast Lite. The StreetPilot App features a simple and intuitive interface that welcomes handset owners with two options namely, ‘Where to?’ and ‘View Map’.

It subsumes some interesting facets like free traffic alerts, lane assistance with junction view and speed limit indicators. The software offers quick access to the iTunes music library and contact list by integrating the playlist and the address book. Using the iPhone’s multitasking abilities, the StreetPilot App lets users’ access voice-prompted, turn-by-turn directions.

“Providing consumers with mobile applications is yet another way they can experience the benefits of Garmin – be it our navigation expertise or bringing the capabilities of our niche market products to a smartphone. GPS is an extremely helpful tool, but we recognize it’s not a one-size-fits-all solution. We decided to introduce a new line of smartphone applications so that we can give customers a quality Garmin experience in the format of their choosing,” asserted Dan Bartel, Garmin’s vice president of worldwide sales.

On the other hand, the My-Cast Lite is one of the My-Cast apps that are available for the iPhone. The free Lite version can now be downloaded on Android devices. The Tracker in this lineup operates concurrently with the Garmin GTU 10 tracking devices which also has been debuted at CES. This helps handset owners track several things like pets, children, cars and much more.

myMechanic encapsulates all the information that auto aficionados can keep a tab on the car’s specific performance metrics comprising of horsepower, torque and G-force, among others. This app will be available for download from February 2011 at the Android Market. The information can be accessed only when the app is paired with Garmin’s ecoRoute HD module using Bluetooth.

Coming back to the StreetPilot iPhone application, it can be procured from the App Store for $39.99.
