Post the Freedom 251, another homegrown smartphone called the ChampOne C1 is set to hit Indian markets soon. The brand is a newbie on the block of phone makers in the country and the C1 is their first offering. The phone is going to be sold for Rs 501 in a flash sale only for existing customers on September 2.
Procuring the ChampOne C1 is possible only if you are a registered shopper with the company. As per the directions on the website, prospective buyers will first have to invest in the ChampOne Clean Master App that has a Rs 51 subscription charge. This makes you a client of the company and you will receive a serial number that can be used to purchase the phone through the sale.
There is another catch in buying the C1. Registrations for the flash sale have stopped for 24 hours owing to technical difficulty. The company has issued a disclaimer that they are having some procedural issues with their payment gateway partner which is preventing customers from enlisting themselves for the sale.

It seems like the ChampOne C1 might also face the same problems that occurred in the marketing of the Freedom 251, which its maker Ringing Bells sold for the lowest price in India. The company was unable to fulfill the high demand that followed. The Freedom 251’s delayed deliveries were coupled with the fact that there was no word about the phone’s performance, leading many to believe that it was a ponzi scam.
