Firefox OS-based LG Fireweb enters Brazil via Telefónica Vivo

LG has joined a select few companies who have adopted the Firefox OS smartphones and has released the Fireweb that has gone official in Brazil through Telefónica Vivo. Apart from this, the carrier has also launched the Alcatel Onetouch Fire handset that makes the most of this OS as well. Those in Mexico, Uruguay and Peru who wish to make the most this platform may not have to wait for very long as the network provider will launch devices in these countries as well.

The platform in question has some advanced search capabilities and it not only finds information regarding the topic you enter, but also looks for relevant applications and internet services. The lighter system can easily run on devices with simple hardware and claims to bring all the features that users look for in their smartphones. A social network has been integrated within the platform along with an expense control application.

So here’s what you can expect from the LG smartphone in question. Its front panel is dominated by a 4-inch TFT touchscreen of HVGA resolution, while the flip side of the compact device has been fitted with a 5MP camera. There’s merely 2GB of onboard memory which should be expandable and the device draws power from a 1GHz 3G Qualcomm processor.

The aforementioned Alcatel One touch is a 3.5-inch smartphone which is equipped with a 3G Qualcomm processor ticking at 1GHz as well. It is accompanied by a 2GB memory card and plays host to a 3.2MP primary camera as well.

The LG Fireweb smartphone is now available in Brazil for a price of BRL $449 through Telefónica Vivo.
