Final Fantasy V for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch pushed out

Final Fantasy V for iOS has come out and it marks the initial steps that this version of the game will be taking into the mobile territory, a whole 20 years after the original release in Japan. The app will be accessible to users of the iPhone, iPad and iPod touch and they will have to set aside $15.99 for it.

Gaming buffs would know that the plot revolves around four primary characters – Bartz along with his Chocobo partner-in-crime, Princess Lenna of Castle Tycoon, the pirate captain Faris and Galuf. Set against a medieval backdrop, the focal point of the story is the imminent destruction of four crystals which personify the elements of the world, namely fire, water, wind and earth. And surprise, surprise, the onus of making sure that the stones do not get subjected to any damage and normalcy is restored in the universe, lies on the shoulders of our protagonists.

What Square Enix has brought about this time is player freedom in customizing the avatars and also in the job system. The latter capability bestows a certain degree of liberty to users in choosing from amongst 26 jobs classes that their hero can master. A skill is added to their repertoire of expertise every time a shard of the crystal is chanced upon. This scheme has been essentially borrowed from the third edition of the application.

The return of Kazuko Shibuya, the developer’s trusted character designer, has resulted in the reinvention of the individuals and in the revamping of the graphical environment. This has been carried out to deliver an enhanced experience for smartphone and tablet users. Further enhancements are brought forward with the optimization of the controls and the active-time battle system, so that gamers can indulge in their favorite fight sequences without bothering about any possible time lag.

The newest version will now include ‘The Sealed Temple’ which was present in the 2006 release and the optional boss Enuo, who apparently is the villain of the series. The baddie has been designed by Tetsuya Nomura. A fresh soundtrack has also been incorporated to complement the whole shindig. Just like any other game, players will be baited with a number of achievements that they can earn. Also, support will be doled out from Game Center.
