Facebook copies Twitter yet again with Embedded Posts feature

With the introduction of the new Facebook Embedded Posts feature, we doubt that the social network even wants to be subtle about filching Twitter’s ideas. It reminds us of how it had adopted hashtags a couple of months ago. Following this, Facebook also sanctioned uploading short videos on Instagram, going after the latter’s Vine service.

This time as well, there are no surprises when it comes to the latest attribute’s functions, seeing as it permits affixing a ‘Public’ post from the social network onto users’ personal websites or blogs. Such posts can comprise of pictures, video clips, hashtags and more.

Something similar had been rolled out for Instagram last month, although it was restricted to the service’s web version only. As many would know, these snippets are actually alive and allow people to like as well as follow Pages, and click on hashtags in order to browse through related content.

The drop-down menu accompanying every public update will now accommodate the Embed Post option. Clicking on this will conjure a dialog box with a specific code. So all that users have to do is copy the code and paste it on their website to get the desired result.

However, the Embedded Posts attribute is still in the process of being pushed forth for everyone and the company has currently granted this privilege merely to a handful of websites including CNN, Bleacher Report and PEOPLE. Even though it has promised a wider availability soon, only time will tell when personal accounts can lay their hands on this feature.
