Facebook app for Windows Phone v2.5 shoots out

The official Facebook app for Windows Phone v2.5 is now up on Marketplace. This upgrade tags along some new tweaks and additions to improve the cumulative experience of accessing the app.

First to arrive is the ability to have group conversations along with full threaded messaging. Users can tag places and friends in posts by including the prefixes ‘at’ and ‘with,’ correspondingly. This new version allows deleting posts by tapping and holding them to make the Wall appear less cluttered.

“Well, the wait is over: The update—version 2.5, officially—just showed up in Marketplace and carries some tasty additions. Most of you probably already have this app in your arsenal. If not, what better time to grab it. Here’s some of what’s new or improved,” commented Michael Stroh on the official Windows Phone blog.

This updated app enables access to links in posts via simple taps that should allow users to peruse the original content. As seen long ago on the web, this utility for Windows Phone devices finally offers the capability to ‘like’ comments.

The features to be included in v2.5 were already announced last month, but it is now that they have officially been implemented. Another interesting addition is the inclusion of ‘likes’ and comments pages for posts along with the existing counterparts for images.

Just as a reminder, people trying to download this refreshed application need to install Windows Phone 7.5 on their phones. The Facebook app for Windows Phone v2.5 can now be downloaded via Marketplace.
