Facebook comments receive ‘Reply’ icon

Developers over at Facebook seem to have their plates full, even as we had recently seen them releasing a bumped up layout for the social network and now, they have planned on adorning it’s comment section with a reply icon of its own. After almost a decade of taking the leap, the web portal is trying to sort out the clutter created on a conversation thread following any picture or a post on a Page.

Facebook has declared its plans to add ‘Replies’ to comments made on Pages as well as select profiles. This should permit users to begin a discussion within a thread, assembling all the relevant topics together. To be honest, we have all faced the predicament of browsing through an entire conversation in order to find one appropriate response. So this might just prove to be an agreeable development.

What’s more, the threaded comments will be seen re-arranged based on relevance from one user to another. This means every networker will be exposed to a unique pattern of the conversation. These are majorly segregated in three categories.

First being positive feedback that thrusts the comment with a maximum number of likes and replies to the top. Next up is connection, which highlights a remark made by a friend over that of a stranger. Lastly, any negative feedback including all the spam reports as well as those which qualify as spam according to the page owner will be down-ranked.

Today onwards, the social network renders administrators with an alternative to activate this feature or choose other otherwise. However, the company clearly states that subsequent to July 10, the attribute will be more of a compulsion and it will be enabled on all Pages as well as profiles which are being followed by over 10,000 users.

The Edit Page icon of the admin panel embraces the Manage Permissions option. It is this category which holds the key to set the latest feature in motion, as seen in the picture embedded below. Working towards improving discussions on the site, the company claims to have subjected the fresh introduction to months of testing.

At present, the reply option has currently been granted only for the desktop version of Facebook. Nevertheless, we have been assured that it will be rolling out for Graph API and mobiles as well.
