Excessive Messaging leads NZ Women with text-messages Thumb

Too Much Text Messaging is Harmhul A 20-year-old New Zealand-based student named Fleur de Vere Beavis sends as many as 100 text messages from her mobile phone daily. Thanks to which a newspaper reporter stated about a case, which is apparently the first case of a person getting texting tenosynovitis, also known as text message’s thumb.

As this girl is constantly sending text messages it has inflamed the tendons along the thumb and side of the wrist and filled the surrounding tissue with fluid.

The reporters have discovered only two such cases other than this uptil now, which includes a school-aged child in Singapore and a thirteen years old girl in Australia.

Thus Emma Storr and Mark Stringer, have reported that tenosynovitis is likely to be more common than thought, given the popularity of texting.

In New Zealand there is a population of 4.2 million people while there are 4.5 million mobile handsets in use and there are more than 28 million text messages being sent everyday.
