Evernote for Windows Phone

The popular note taking app, Evernote for Windows Phone has been updated to version 2.1 and now features quite a few new functionalities to make the process of organizing things easier. This upgrade was somewhat expected since Evernote was recently refreshed for the Android and iOS platforms too.

Evernote for Windows Phone 2.1 offers support to numerous new languages such as Korean, Brazilian Portuguese, Japanese, Russian, Chinese (simplified and traditional), Polish and Dutch. The text editing functionalities have also been changed for the better. Another highlight of this update is the pinning feature.

The upgrade lets users pin essential things on the homescreen itself so that they are able to access oft used notes, features and notebooks quickly and smoothly. For doing so, users have to simply visit the relevant screen and click on the Pin button located at the bottom. The tile on the homescreen will then display the number of notes related to the notebook or tag. Following this, Windows Phone handset owners have to open the note, tap the dots in the menu and select the ‘Pin this Note’ option for pinning the note successfully.

The refreshed and tweaked version of Evernote allows users to create various templates. The Evernote blog states that the template feature should save the users’ time and energy since it eliminates the need of creating the same kind of notes frequently. Different types of templates can be made, ranging from a simple text template to one that simplifies a complicated workflow. Users have to make a new note, tap on the three dots in the menu and choose ‘Pin as Template.’ The application will then request them to recognize the kind of template to be created which will then be pinned to the homescreen.

Furthermore, the application now possesses other functionalities including background sync, search integration and enhanced social interaction through Facebook, Twitter and Windows Live. Evernote for Windows Phone v2.1 is now available for free at the Windows Phone Marketplace.
